Grandma and Grandpa Lear, aka Bill
& Joyce or Mum & Dad to me, delighted to see their
granddaughter for the first time. Lily is 3 weeks old in these first
sets of pictures & still very tiny and sleeping most of the time!
Grandma Joyce loved to stroke Lily's
cheek and say "you're beautiful". Some even say this brought the first
smile...
Lily's black & white book and
mobile set arrived courtesy of Grandma Alison. Lily really loved
looking at them.
Me learning to hold Lily - trying and
failing to do it with no hands!
Was mighty cold in Cape Town - you
don't see Lily in a blanket much in Pemba!, which is a pity as she
loved being wrapped up nice and snug like you see here.
Here is a video I made on Dad's ipod to send to Alan & Alison when Lily was 1 month old exactly. I have cut it down a bit as it wasn't a masterpiece, but it's interesting to see Lily so small.
Mummy and daughter - both wrapped in
white!
Grandpa with Lily and Lily giving some
of her first smiles to Grandma. (One of these we framed for Mum &
Dad to take home with them).
Going for a walk on the beach in
Fishhoek - what a beautiful part of the
world.
We stayed for a bit at The View which
was perfect and luckily Lily's playmat could come with.
We
loved relaxing in the flat at The View and in those days Lily was happy
to conk out lying on people's chest (she will not do that now - she
likes to look around too much!)
Mum's turn with the little bundle of
joy, though occasionally she could be a bundle of tears if she wasn't
too happy about the temperature or who knows what else!
Our first evidence of Lily grabbing
something (we were excited!)
Cate & Lily both looking
beautiful! This is now Lily at 5 weeks old & she already looks that
bit older and more aware. It has been such a joy to us to see her
increasingly know us and respond to us.
I hope that Lily doesn't mind that we
sometimes send out photos with comedy captions. This is "Lily chilling
in her crib".
Me enjoying a cuddle with "Boo-Boo",
as we fondly like to call her. I had no idea how amazing it would
be to be a dad!
Lily is about 7 weeks old now & seen here starting to talk to Cate, kind of!
Lily enjoying the original bucket bath
and her pink teddy outfit.
On the left Lily enjoying the playmat and talking to herself and on the right relaxing on the sofa & giving us a lovely smile.
Lily meeting our dear friends Sarah
& Pete Portal and Kate & Barry Lewis (with their kids Toby
& Annie May).
A couple of cute videos of Lily in her cot.
A lovely smile which has
obviously taken it out of Lily as here comes a big yawn!
More smiles to delight our hearts.
In her spotty sleeping bag, giving us
a range of facial expressions!
In her "Mummy loves me" outfit - she
sure does.
Finally came the day we were to head
back to Pemba, Mozambique. This is Lily's first venture in the skies
and she was an angel.
Lily's first day in Pemba and meeting
some of the girls who live at the centre. Lily has gone down an
absolute storm on the base, not to mention in the village (more on this
next month!)
On the left you see both Bounty and
Mars welcoming Lily, though since then Bounty has all but abandoned us.
On the right, Lily enjoying the wonderbag!
To finish, here are some close ups
that Cate took of Lily aged 2 months - it is everything we can do not
to gobble her up!
Amazing snaps - my favorites are the ones from Pemba where Lily looks quite baffled and the mummy loves me outfit where she looks like she is chortling! Looking forward to the next excerpt!! Miss you all A
